Sex Offender, 78, Charged With More Crimes. Anne Arundel County police arrested a 78-year-old Brooklyn Park man over the weekend on accusations that he molested a child. Police were called on Aug. 19 to the 5100 block of 4th Street in Brooklyn Park after a resident reported that she witnessed a known registered sex offender walking into a nearby wooded area with a 13-year-old boy.
Rape Hearing Set For USNA Football Players. A hearing is scheduled to determine whether three U.S. Naval Academy students will be court-martialed over allegations that they raped a female midshipman. The Article 32 hearing is set to begin Tuesday at the Navy Yard in Washington. The midshipmen, who played on the football team, have been charged with rape, sexual assault or other sexual misconduct. They also have been charged with making a false official statement.
2 Arrested In Attempted Motorcycle Theft, Assault. Police arrested two men Saturday in the attempted theft of a motorcycle and alleged assault of its owner. Officers were called around 3:30 a.m. Saturday to the McDonald’s in the 100 block of Mitchells Chance Road in Edgewater, where a motorcycle was parked outside. Police said one of the assailants was seen pushing the motorcycle away from the restaurant, at which time the 18-year-old owner, his brother and a few friends gave chase and detained the man while a call to 911 was made.
Fire Rips Through Odenton Home, Damages 2 Others. Three people in Anne Arundel County need a new place to live after a fire ripped through their townhouse in Odenton. Fire officials said the flames broke our around 3 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 7600 block of Found Artifact Drive. It took firefighters less than 45 minutes to get the flames under control, but not before the blaze reached two alarms and damaged two neighboring homes and a vehicle.
