Attempted Purse Snatching Suspect Evades Police.  Anne Arundel County police said they are investigating an attempted purse-snatching and an assault and robbery. In one incident, officers were called to the J.C. Penney store at the Annapolis Mall in Annapolis for a report of an attempted robbery around 2:25 p.m. Wednesday. A 45-year-old woman told police she was shopping at the JC Penney and was in the ladies department when a woman approached her and began making random comments, causing her to feel uncomfortable.

Police Seek 2 Men Who Robed Gambrills Business.  Anne Arundel County police are looking for two men who held up a business in Gambrills. Officers were called to the Communications Electronics Store in the 1300 block of Main Chapel Way for a reported armed robbery around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday. A store employee told police two men came into the business and one of them pulled out a handgun and demanded phones and electronic tablets while the other man acted as a lookout.

$61K Stolen From Verizon Service Centers.  Tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of Verizon cable equipment vanished from several of the company’s service centers in Maryland, and police are working to find out if the cases are connected. In what police said appeared to be a well-planned heist, more than $61,000 worth of fiber optic equipment was stolen last week from inside two Verizon service centers and storage lots.

Grown Men To Celebrate My Little Pony At BronyCon.  My Little Pony was a beloved childhood cartoon that was born in the 1980s and grew into toys, a TV series and a feature-length film. Grown men will celebrate the franchise at the 2013 BronyCon in Baltimore. BronyCon 2013 will be the fifth convention of its kind. Workers began setup Thursday for what organizers said will be their biggest convention yet, with more than 7,000 visitors expected.
