Man Charged In Connection With Pit Bull Attack

PitBullTerrierTiggerFetch1Our media partner, WBAL-TV, is reporting on another pit bull attack in Pasadena.  The pit bull owner was walking the dog off-leash and ordered his dog to attack another labrador retriever mix under the pretense of wanting to video tape a dog fight.

Anne Arundel County police said a Baltimore man has been charged in connection with a dog attack.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of Riverwood Way in Riviera Beach for a reported aggressive animal and assault complaint around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers spoke with the victim, a 52-year-old man, who said he was walking his dogs in the area of Cluster Court and Riverwood Way when he saw a man walking his pit bull dog off leash.

Police said witnesses heard the suspect give directions to his dog to attack the victim’s dog, an 11-year-old Labrador retriever mix. The suspect’s dog ran toward the victim’s dog and began attacking it.

The victim was able to separate the suspect’s dog from his, causing the man to get angry with the victim, because he said he wanted to videotape a dog fight, police said.

The suspect subsequently head butted the victim in the face causing an injury, but the victim refused medical treatment, police said. The victim’s dog required veterinary treatment.

Police said a statement of charges was made to the Court Commissioner and a warrant was issued for the suspect, 36-year-old Jason Charles Parrotte.

Parrotte was charged with second-degree assault, animal cruelty, training a dog for a dog fight and failing to restrain a dangerous dog.

Parrotte turned himself in to the police station on Wednesday. He remains held on $75,000 bail.
