Baysox Rally In The Ninth

Baysox 2013IMG_9694The Bowie Baysox (59-59) scored four runs in the top of the ninth to come from behind and beat the Portland Sea Dogs (57-62) 9-6 on Saturday night.

The Sea Dogs jumped out to the early lead in the bottom of the second inning.  With one out, Michael Almanzar singled and then J.C. Linares followed with an RBI double to make the score 1-0.

In the top of the third inning, the Baysox answered right back to take the lead.  Trayvon Robinson singled, Caleb Joseph walked and Seth Loman reached on an error to load up the bases with one out.  Then Brandon Waring hit a two-run double to put the Baysox out in front.  With two outs, Josh Horton hit a two-run single that put the Baysox out in front 4-1.

The Sea Dogs bounced right back in the bottom half of the inning.  Shannon Wilkerson led off with a walk, went to second on a wild pitch and third on a groundout.  Garin Cecchini also walked to put runners at the corners.  Then David Ross grounded out to knock in Wilkerson.  Christian Vazquez followed with a two-out RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3.

In the fifth, the Sea Dogs tied it up.  With one out, Matty Johnson tripled and then scored on an RBI single by Cecchini to make the score 4-4.

The team’s each traded runs in the seventh inning to give the Sea Dogs a one run lead heading into the ninth when the Baysox mounted a rally with a four run inning.  Horton led off with a single and was bunted over to second.  Kyle Hudson then tied up the game with an RBI single to center.  Robinson followed with an RBI double to score Hudson and give the Baysox the led.  Then Britton knocked in Robinson with his second triple of the lead and Caleb Joseph capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly to make the score 9-6.

Oliver Drake threw two scoreless innings to pick up his third win of the season.

Matt Maloney got the loss giving up all four runs in the ninth.
