Baysox Hammer Fisher Cats

Baysox 2013IMG_9930The Bowie Baysox (58-58) pounded out 12 hits and nine runs as they took the series from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (55-60) 9-2 on Thursday night.

Brandon Waring got the scoring started with his 18th home run of the season to lead off the fifth inning.  Josh Horton and Garabez Rosa followed with back-to-back singles to put two runners on.  Brian Ward followed with a sacrifice bunt to move both runners into scoring position.  Kyle Hudson then hit an RBI groundout to score Horton.  Then with Trayvon Robinson batting, Rosa scored on a wild pitch to make the score 3-0.

In the seventh inning, the Baysox added to the lead.  With one out Brian Ward singled and Kyle Hudson walked.  Then Trayvon Robinson hit his fifth home run of the season to put the Baysox out in front by six runs.  With one out, Buck Britton tripled and scored on a Caleb Joseph sacrifice fly to make the score 7-0.

The Fisher Cats got on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning when A.J. Jimenez hit a two-run home run to cut the lead to 7-2.

In the eighth inning the Baysox got one more run when Robinson hit into a double play with the bases loaded that allowed Rosa to score to make the score 8-2.

Rosa capped the Baysox scoring in the ninth with an RBI single to make the score 9-2.

Devin Jones picked up the win going 6.1 innings and allowing two runs on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

Kyle Drabek got the loss going four innings and allowing two runs on three hits.
