Baysox Rally But Come Up Short

Baysox 2013IMG_9937Despite coming back from down five runs, the Bowie Baysox (58-59) fell to the Portland Sea Dogs (57-61) 9-7 on Friday night.

The Sea Dogs struck first in the bottom of the first inning.  With two outs and a runner at first base the Sea Dogs recorded four straight hits.  J.C. Linares knocked in the first run with an RBI double, Travis Shaw hit an RBI single and then Derrick Gibson hit a two-run double to make the score 4-0.

Seth Loman got the Baysox on the board in the third inning when he hit a lead off home run.  Then with two outs in the inning, Kyle Hudson and Trayvon Robinson hit back-to-back singles.  Buck Britton then knocked in Hudson with an RBI single to make the score 4-2.

The Sea Dogs added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to increase the lead out to 7-2.

In the seventh inning the Baysox rallied with five runs to tie up the game.  Loman led off with a single and went to second on a groundout.  With one out, Garabez Rosa brought him home with an RBI single.  Hudson followed with a single and then with two outs, Britton hit an RBI single.  Caleb Joseph then got the Baysox within a run when he hit a two-run double.  The next batter, Brandon Waring tied up the game with an RBI single that made the score 7-7.

The Sea Dogs answered right back in the bottom half of the inning.  With one out Gibson singled and Heiker Meneses doubled to put two runners in scoring position.  Kevin Heller followed with a two-run single to put the Sea Dogs back in front 9-7.

Noe Ramirez got the win going 2.1 shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out two batters.

Clay Schrader gave up the two runs in the seventh to get the loss.
