Senators Sweep Second Doubleheader From Baysox

Baysox 2013IMG_9710For the second time in two days, the Harrisburg Senators (49-41) swept a doubleheader from the Bowie Baysox (43-44) winning game one 1-0 and game two 6-2.

In game one, the Senators scored the lone run of the game in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Jerad Head.

Rob Gilliams got the win going six shutout innings and allowing just one hit while striking out three and walking two.

Aaron Barrett then nailed down the save in the seventh.

Eduardo Rodriguez received the tough luck loss going six innings and allowing a run on two hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.

The Senators immediately struck in the second game pushing across three runs in the first inning.  Brian Goodwin drew a leadoff walk and Steven Souza reached on an error to put runners at second and third.  Jerad Head followed with a two-run double to give the Senators the lead.  They added another run when Jimmy Van Ostrand hit an RBI double to make the score 3-0.

In the second inning, the Baysox struck for two runs on back-to-back two-out RBI singles by Garabez Rosa and Josh Horton to cut the lead to 3-2.

Harrisburg responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.  With one out and runners at the corners, Souza hit a sacrifice fly.  Then Jerad Head hit a two-run home run to make the score 6-2.

Following the fifth inning in game two the game was delayed and ultimately stopped due to rain.

Matt Swynenberg got the win going five innings and allowing just two unearned runs on seven hits.

Matt Bischoff picked up the loss allowing all six runs, five earned on five hits with one walk.

The teams will wrap up the seven-game series tomorrow at noon.  RHP Tyler Wilson (3-1, 2.96) will take on RHP Nate Karns (6-3, 3.69).
