Man Arrested In Laurel Robbery, AssaultAnne Arundel County police said they arrested one man and are looking for a second after an assault and robbery in Laurel.  A witness told a police officer in the area of Whiskey Bottom Road and Yellow Flower Road around 12:10 a.m. Wednesday that he saw a man being assaulted.

Man Drowns After Jumping From Boat. Authorities said a man drowned Thursday after jumping from a boat between Dobbins Island and Magothy Island. Investigators said they were called to 1067 Shore Acres Road about 6:10 p.m. Officials said they were originally told it was a rescue call, but it was later changed to a drowning.

Ft. Meade Soldier Killed In Afghanistan. Pentagon officials said a soldier based at Fort Meade is dead after a non-combat-related incident. Spc. Hilda Clayton, 22, of Georgia, died Tuesday while serving in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. Clayton was assigned to the 55th Signal Company, 21st Signal Brigade. The incident is under investigation.

Motorcyclist Dies After Crash Into Tree. A motorcyclist who crashed into a tree has died weeks after the crash, police said. Anne Arundel County police said John Harvey Stratton, 56, of Parkville, died on June 29 as a result of injuries he suffered in a June 8 crash. He was not wearing a helmet. Police said Stratton was travelling north on Hillsmere Drive near Magnolia Lane south of Annapolis when he lost control around a curve and struck a tree. Police said the impact ejected Stratton and a passenger from the motorcycle.
