2 Men Emerge From Comas After Lightning Strike. Family members said two Anne Arundel County men who may have been struck by lightning have emerged from medically induced comas. Family members told The Capital that 19-year-old John Conner Benson and 23-year-old Alex Steele remain on the critical care floor at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Bike Rider Stabs Man, Steals Laptop Bag. A man says he was robbed and stabbed early Saturday morning in Glen Burnie, according to Anne Arundel County police. Officers were called just after midnight to the 1200 block of Leonard Drive, where they found a 34-year-old man with a laceration to the neck. The victim told police that a man on a mountain bike approached him, pulled out a knife, stabbed him and then stole his laptop bag. Police said the man was approximately 30 to 40 years old.

Budget Cuts To Close USNA Museum On Mondays. The U.S. Naval Academy Museum will be closed on Mondays for the rest of the summer due to furloughs mandated by the impact of federal budget cuts. The academy announced Friday that the museum will remain open during normal hours on Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, the War 1812 exhibit in Mahan Hall will be open on Mondays.

Neuman To Run To Keep Seat, Names New Police Chief.  Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman said she wants to keep her executive seat in 2014, and she’s also named a new county police chief.  Neuman will face off against state Delegate Steve Schuh and County Councilman John Grasso in a three-way Republican primary race. The County Council appointed Neuman as executive in February following the resignation of disgraced leader John Leopold, who spent time in jail after being convicted of misconduct in office.
