Police Release Details On Fatal Crofton Crash

fatal-accidentOn July 15, 2013, at 1:34am, officers from the Western District responded to the area of Davidsonville Road and Duke of Kent in Crofton for a reported motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers located a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier off the roadway on the north side of Davidsonville Road, just east of Duke of Kent. Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel were also on scene. Due to the extent of the injuries to the driver and passenger, the Traffic Safety Section was requested to respond.

Officers from the Traffic Safety Section arrived on scene and assumed the investigation.  The initial investigation revealed that the 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by Megan Pfisterer, 23, of Gambrills was traveling westbound on Davidsonville Road approaching Duke of Kent when she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle began to rotate causing the vehicle to strike a curb on the north side of the roadway. The vehicle then left the roadway and struck a tree. The two occupants of the vehicle were then ejected from the vehicle. Pfisterer was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger, Justin Lee, 27, of Crofton, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma and is in stable condition. The Capital is reporting that he was released this morning.

Preliminary investigation indicates that excessive speed, alcohol and lack of occupant protection are possible factors in this crash. The Traffic Safety Section is continuing the investigation.
