In addition to 7-year old boy who died as a result of a fall from a float in the Annapolis Independence Day Parade, fire crews are searching for a 26-year old man believed to have drowned last night off Dobbins Island.
Fire crews were initially called out just after 6pm for a rescue when the man jumped from a 20′ pleasure craft. The call was changed to a drowning when it appeared that a significant amount of time had elapsed between jumping overboard and reporting the incident. There were 7 other passengers on the boat and all are safe.
Divers and air patrol were mobilized for the search which was called off late in the evening. The search will resume today. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department and the DNR are investigating and will determine if alcohol was a factor in the incident.
