Baysox Strike To Take Down Senators

Baysox 2013IMG_9671The Bowie Baysox (42-40) scored six runs over the first three innings to beat the Harrisburg Senators (45-40) 6-2 on Thursday night.

The Baysox got the lead in the top of the first inning.  Niuman Romero hit a one-out double and then scored on a two-out single by Brandon Waring to give the Baysox a 1-0 lead.

In the second, the Baysox added two more runs.  Garabez Rosa led off with a single and Kyle Hudson reached on an error.  Then with one out, Trayvon Robinson hit a two-run double to give the Baysox a 3-0 lead.

The Baysox added three more runs in the third inning.  Seth Loman led off with a walk, and Waring singled.  Josh Horton followed with an RBI double to knock in the first run of the inning.  Rosa then brought home Waring with an RBI single. Aaron Baker then grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Horton and make the score 6-0.

In the ninth, the Senators got their lone runs of the game when Steven Souza hit a two-run home run to make the score 6-2.

Wei-Yin Chen got the win throwing seven shutout innings and allowing just four hits while striking out three and walking none.

The loss went to Blake Treinen who threw six innings and allowed six runs, five earned on 10 hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

The team’s will face off in a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 5:30 pm.  In game one RHP Devin Jones (3-3, 6.15) vs. LHP Robbie Ray (0-0, 0.00).  Then in game two RHP Eddie Gamboa (4-5, 3.48) will make his first start since his no-hitter last Sunday taking on RHP Tyler Herron (2-1, 4.91).
