Annapolis Maritime Museum To Host 2nd Annual Arts Alliance Show

Arts Alliance_2013The Annapolis Arts Alliance will hold its 2nd Annual Juried Art Show at the Annapolis Maritime Museum from July 3 to August 25. The show’s opening reception will be on Thursday, July 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. where announcement of this year’s top selections will be made.

“We were absolutely delighted to have been invited back to museum,” said show coordinator Frank Brennan. “Last year our members submitted more than 70 works. We were able to exhibit 43 in a spring show that was well received by members and visitors.”

Two things made the 2012 show special, he said. The eclectic nature of Alliance member talents and the Maritime Museum venue itself.

Brennan said he expects this year show to include even more submissions for judging. Judging categories will be oils, watercolor, photography, and mixed media.

This year’s judges are Wilford Scott, who heads the Department of Adult Programs, Education Division, at National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.; Alice Estrada, executive director of the Maritime Museum; Ginny Kuhn, one of Maryland most talented photographers who took top honors in her category last year’s show; and Bridget Shea, owner of the Artist’s Framer in Eastport.

The show will feature maritime-related art works. Submissions to this year’s show are expected to be works that were not exhibited in 2012.

The Annapolis Arts Alliance provides a forum for members of the arts community to network, collaborate, polish creative skills, and show the rich artistic life of Greater Annapolis. The Alliance supports resource identification, information dissemination, arts education and event programs while providing a collective voice for the Annapolis arts community.
