Neuman Names New Police Chief

Davis Kevin_Asst Chief_8x10_1-1Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman today announced the appointment of Kevin Davis as Chief of Police.

“Chief Davis is a proven leader and shares my vision for the future of our police department,” said County Executive Neuman.  “I am confident that under his leadership, morale and professionalism will be restored and the Anne Arundel County Police Department will become a model in the state.”

Chief Davis has 21 years of experience with the Prince George’s Police Department (PGPD), the 28th largest police department in the nation. He has served as the Assistant Chief of Police for the last three years. Chief Davis has worked in all facets of police operations from patrol squad to investigations.  Last year the PGPD recorded its lowest homicide rate since 1986.

“I’m humbled by the confidence County Executive Laura Neuman has demonstrated in me, and look forward to serving with the men and women of the Anne Arundel County Police Department to protect the citizens of our County,” said Chief Davis.

Chief Davis holds a Master’s Degree from Johns Hopkins University, a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University and is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Chief Davis and his wife reside in Crofton with their four children.

His appointment is effective Monday, July 15, 2013.
