Glen Burnie Man Killed In Early Morning Crash

fatal-accidentOn July 10, 2013, at approximately 7:01 a.m., Northern District Officers responded for a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of Maryland Route 10 south at the Dover Road overpass. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a 2003 Dodge Pickup, operated by Chris Donald Pfeil, 33, of Glen Burnie, on its side against the bridge pillar with the driver trapped inside with life threatening injuries. Investigators from the Traffic Safety Section responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

The initial investigation revealed that the Dodge was traveling northbound on Maryland Route 10 when it traveled across the center grass median and all the southbound lanes for unknown reasons. The vehicle continued off the roadway, where it struck a tree, turned onto its side and impacted the bridge pillar with its roof trapping the driver. Anne Arundel County Fire Department Paramedics pronounced the operator dead at the scene. It is unknown if speed, alcohol or a prior medical condition are factors at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
