David RuppertOn July 6, 2013, at approximately 3:24 p.m., officers from Eastern District responded to a residence in the 500 block of Bayberry Drive in Severna Park. The homeowner, who was not on scene, called for police assistance, indicating that her son may be in her home without authorization and that he had outstanding warrant(s).

Officers responded and found the home unsecured. In clearing the home, they found a downstairs bedroom locked from the inside. Additional information received indicated that this was the suspect’s old room. Contact was made with the suspect and attempts to get him to come out were unsuccessful. Officers could see that the suspect was armed with mace. The scene was determined to be a barricade and the Quick Response Team responded around 5:15 p.m. During efforts to bring the suspect into custody, the suspect became combative and struck one officer with an object from the home and maced another officer. The suspect was ultimately tased and taken into custody. He was charged on the outstanding warrant along with Burglary, Assault (two) counts (on Police), and Resisting Arrest.
