Downtown Annapolis Development Plan Draws Ire.  Some residents, business owners and civil groups in Annapolis believe plans for a downtown facelift will detract from the city’s historic experience. Rezoning a portion of the Annapolis City Dock to allow development has caused a rift among a coalition of residents. A bill backed by Mayor Josh Cohen would rezone the city dock where there are a few vacant buildings to allow for bigger buildings and mixed-use buildings.

Reward Increased For Info On Who Shot Cat.  The Humane Society is offering a reward for information leading to the person who shot a cat with an arrow in Anne Arundel County. Officials said a homeowner found Xena, the cat, near Riva Road in Davidsonville last week with a two-foot-long arrow from a crossbow in her neck. Xena survived the attack and is now recovering at the Rude Ranch Animal Rescue and will eventually be available for adoption.

Couple Attacked By Pit Bull Released From Hospital.  A Glen Burnie couple attacked by a dog Friday evening were released yesterday after undergoing emergency surgery at Shock Trauma. Police were called to 300 Highland Drive for reports of a dog attack.  When they arrived, the officers found a woman in the apartment entryway suffering from multiple dog bite wounds.  As officers approached her, the dog went after her again.  Police were able to distract the animal so it didn’t attack again.

Police: Teen Arrested In Connection With TheftsAnne Arundel County police said they arrested a teen in connection with theft. Police were called to the area of Duvall Highway in Pasadena for a report of a theft from automobile around 1 a.m. Tuesday. Officers found a man matching the description given by the victim. Police said the man was apparently intoxicated and acting in a disorderly manner and that they found a GPS and additional items in his possession that were taken from the victim’s vehicle.
