Officials Defend New Jersey Officer Charged In Roadside Killing. New Jersey officials released a statement Wednesday defending a New Jersey police detective that Maryland State Police charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Anne Arundel County. Authorities on Monday charged Joseph Walker, 40, of Eastampton, N.J., with second-degree murder and manslaughter. Walker is a detective with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Robber Steals Meds From Pharmacy In DealeAnne Arundel County police are looking for a robber. Officers were called to the Deale Pharmacy in the 5800 block of Deale Churchton Road in Deale around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a robbery. Employees told police the robber approached the pharmacy counter, passed a note demanding prescription medication and then subsequently displayed a handgun to an employee.

Police Looking For Man Who Robbed Capital One BankAnne Arundel County police said they are looking for a bank robber. Officers were called to the Capital One Bank at 3355 Corridor Marketplace in Laurel at 4:49 p.m. on Monday, where police said a man entered the bank, approached a bank teller at her teller station and announced a robbery. Police said the robber is a dark-skinned black man, about 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 180 pounds with facial hair who was wearing glasses, a white cap, a blue jacket over a black T-shirt and gray-colored pants.

Nearly 100 Teachers To Lose Jobs In Harford County. Severe budget cuts means dozens of teachers will lose their jobs in Harford County. But they’re not the only ones feeling the effects of what school officials are calling tough economic times. School officials knew it would be a tough budget year but didn’t realize they’d have to cut as much as $20 million. As many as 100 teaching positions have been cut from the budget because of reductions made by the County Council.
