NJ Officer Charged In Fatal I-97 Shooting. Maryland State Police have charged a New Jersey police officer in connection with a fatal shooting Saturday on Interstate 97 in Anne Arundel County that may have stemmed from a road rage incident. Authorities have charged Joseph Walker, 40, of Eastampton, N.J., with second-degree murder and manslaughter. Walker is an officer with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

2 Children In Critical Condition After Officer’s Illegal U-Turn.  An illegal U-turn by a police officer led to a collision that critically injured two children and seriously hurt two adults Saturday afternoon in Glen Burnie, according to police. Anne Arundel County police said a marked Howard County police car collided with a Honda Civic around 4:15 p.m. where Route 100 East and Route 10 South merge.

Baltimore Officer Shoots, Misses Assailant.  A domestic-related incident in Baltimore City ended with one person shot and the shooter surrendering to police.  Sunday, just before 10 a.m., officers arrived at the 1700 block of Montpelier Street, where they saw an individual shoot a man. The patrol officer then fired at least one round at the assailant, who was not struck. He surrendered to officers without further incident.

Man Gets 7 Years For Illegal Software Distribution.  A 32-year-old man who fled to Pakistan shortly before being indicted on software copyright infringement charges has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison. Naveed Sheikh, formerly of Baltimore, was also ordered to forfeit $4 million, the value of the infringed software programs, at sentencing Thursday in federal court in Baltimore.
