A true “painter’s painter” understands that a more profound expression is concerned with the poetic aspects of beauty – rhythmic relationships of form, the play of light and color, and the illusion of space and dimension. The sentimental narrative of a painting takes second place to these more vital, visual expressions of beauty.

McBride Gallery, 215 Main Street, presents “Painter’s Paintings” featuring the works of over 20 painters. The reception to meet the artists is Sunday, June 9, 1:00-4:00pm. An artist conversation at 2:00pm will share the artist’s insights into the meaning of the phrase, ‘painter’s paintings.’ The exhibit runs from June 9th to June 30th.

Cynthia McBride of McBride Gallery, said, “over the years, I have watched artists stop in front of a painting and exclaim, “Now that’s a painter’s painting!”  This show presents paintings that have received this rare and treasured comment from a colleague.  Participating artists have also been invited to share quotes for selected paintings. These will be shared online and during the reception.

McBride Gallery has been representing artists and hosting art exhibitions in Annapolis for over 30 years.
