B-Mets Buzz Baysox

BaysoxThe Bowie Baysox (31-33) gave up five runs in the third and fourth innings combined and lost to the Binghamton Mets (41-26) 7-3 on Saturday night.

For the second straight game the Baysox struck first in the top of the first inning.  With one out, Ty Kelly walked and then with two outs Caleb Joseph brought him home with an RBI double to make the score 1-0.

The B-Mets answered back in the bottom of the first inning.  Daniel Muno led off with a double and went to third on a single by Josh Rodriguez.   Then Allan Dykstra knocked in Muno with a single to right to tie up the game 1-1.

In the third inning, the B-Mets added two more runs on a two-run home run by Dykstra to take a 3-1 lead.

Travis Taijeron extended the lead in the fifth inning when he hit a three-run home run to push the lead out to 6-1.

The Baysox got two runs back in the seventh inning.  Garabez Rosa hit a one-out triple and scored on a groundout by Steven Bumbry.  Then with two outs, Josh Horton hit his first home run with the Baysox to cut the lead to 6-3.

In the eighth inning, Richard Lucas hit an RBI single to cap the scoring at 7-3.

Logan Verrett picked up the win going seven innings and allowing three runs on five hits with six strikeouts and three walks.

Jake Pettit got the loss going 3.1 innings and allowing six runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and five walks.

The teams will wrap of the series tomorrow when RHP Devin Jones (3-2, 4.72) take on RHP Rafael Montero (7-3, 0.00) at 1:05 p.m.
