Yes, They Do Rescue Kittens

On May 24, 2013, Anne Arundel County Fire Department’s Station 26 responded to the 8000 block of Nolpark Court in Glen Burnie for a report of a cat stuck inside a wall of an apartment.

Upon arrival, personnel were directed to an apartment where they heard a faint noise sounding like a cat meowing.  Using a thermal imager, personnel isolated a location that showed heat within the wall.  A 1’x2’hole was then cut, and a camera phone was used to look up the wall to confirm the location of the cat.  Found sitting on the fire stop in the wall was a kitten which was no more than a few weeks old.  It is unclear to fire department personnel how it got down into the wall.

The kitten was turned over to Animal Control officials who took the cat for veterinary care. (Video courtesy Anne Arundel County Fire Department)
