Squirrels Slam Baysox

BaysoxThe Bowie Baysox (13-17) gave up six runs in the bottom of the first inning to the Richmond Flying Squirrels (16-15) and ended up losing 6-3 on Monday night.

The Flying Squirrels sent 10 players to the plate and scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning.  The first three batters of the inning all reached base and then on a fielding error the Squirrels got the first run of the game.  The next batter, Jarrett Parker broke the game open with a grand slam.  With two outs, leadoff batter Ryan Lollis picked up his second hit of the inning to knock in a run and give the Squirrels a 6-0 lead.

In the eighth inning, Xavier Avery singled then Kyle Hudson and Ty Kelly each walked to load up the bases.  Henry Urrutia would bring them all home with a bases clearing double that made the score 6-3.

The win went to Omar Javier who replaced starter Jack Snodgrass in the fourth and threw 3.2 shutout innings allowing just one hit.

Devin Jones gave up all six runs in the first inning and got the loss.  He ended up going four innings and giving up the six runs, three earned on six hits with six strikeouts and four walks.

Tomorrow in game two RHP Mike Wright (3-0, 4.91) will take on LHP Ryan Bradley (0-3, 7.08).

The Baysox will return home on Thursday May 9th for a four-game series against the Erie SeaWolves.
