Dog Rescued From Burning Buildings In Brooklyn Park.  Six people have been displaced after a fire Monday evening in Anne Arundel County. The fire broke out just after 7:30 p.m. in the 200 block of West Arden Road in three adjoining townhomes. Investigators believe the fire started in the middle townhome and spread to the other two homes. Crews were able to get the fire under control in about 50 minutes.  No one was hurt.

Crews Battle 2-Alarm Fire In Shady Side. Crews battle a two-alarm house fire near a marina in southern Anne Arundel County. The fire happened on the 4800 block of Woods Wharf Road in Shady Side Monday afternoon. There was no immediate report on what caused the fire or whether there were any injuries.

Maryland 7th Grader Finalist In Google Contest. Lauren Shen, an Ellicott City seventh-grade student at Burleigh Manor Middle School, is a finalist in the Doodle 4 Google contest. On the contest website, Lauren writes, “My doodle expresses the theme because the day I arrived in Taiwan was my best day ever. I saw many sites and was able to see my family for the first time.”

Neuman Creates Task Force To Probe County Police Department. Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman said the county’s police department has been plagued by drama and scandal, and she intends to put a stop to it for good. Neuman is asking law enforcement agencies from Montgomery and Harford counties to take a fresh look at her county’s police force starting Monday. The two counties have been asked to leave no stone unturned.
