Baysox Blast Past Aeros

BaysoxThe Bowie Baysox (21-21) continued their success against the Akron Aeros (20-25) this season by scoring 13 runs on 15 hits to get themselves back to .500 for the first time since April 27 with a 13-2 win on Tuesday night.

Brandon Waring led the way with his third career, four-hit game including a home run, a double and a season high three runs batted in.

The Baysox got the scoring started in the second inning.  With one out, Aaron Baker and Luis Martinez hit back-to-back singles.  Waring then got them on the board with his third home run of the season, a three-run shot that made it 3-0.

With two outs in the third inning, Cedric Hunter hit his first home run of the season to cut the lead to 3-1.

In the fourth inning, the Baysox struck right back.  They loaded up the bases with no one out on a Baker double, Martinez walk and Waring single.  After back-to-back outs were recorded, Ty Kelly drew a walk to force in Baker from third.  Niuman Romero then knocked in Martinez with an RBI single that made the score 5-1.

The Aeros got a run back in the fifth inning when Jesus Aguilar hit an RBI single to make the score 5-2.

In the seventh inning, the Baysox broke the game wide open by scoring seven runs.  They loaded up the bases with one out and Martinez knocked in the first run of the inning with an RBI single. Then with two outs the Baysox recorded four straight hits to bring home six more runs.  Garabez Rosa started it with a two-run double, Cale Iorg hit a two-run single, then Kelly hit an RBI double and Romero capped the scoring with an RBI single of his own that made the score 12-2.

The Baysox added one more run in the ninth when Waring scored on a wild pitch to make the score 13-2.

Mike Wright got the win going five innings and allowing two runs on six hits with five strikeouts and four walks.  It was the sixth straight start in which Wright has earned a win.

The loss went to Jordan Cooper who allowed five runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings pitched.

Tomorrow in game three of the series RHP Kevin Gausman (2-4, 3.11) will be going up against Major League rehabber, RHP Brett Myers (0-0, 0.00).
