Police Make Drug Arrest In Severn.  A 26-year-old Severn man was arrested on drug-related charges, Anne Arundel County police said. Police said detectives conducted a traffic stop on a man leaving the home for which they had a search warrant. Once the vehicle was stopped, detectives identified the driver as the person listed in the search warrant. At that time, the man was detained and searched, police said.

Robber Snatches Woman’s Purse In Laurel.  Anne Arundel County police said they are looking for a robber. Officers were called to the 200 block of Easton South in Laurel for a report of a robbery around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday. A 33-year-old woman told police she was pushing a shopping cart on Easton South when she was approached by a man who engaged her in casual conversation. The man then pulled out a knife and pointed it at her, police said.

GOP Demands O’Malley Take Responsibility For Jails. Maryland House Republicans demanded Thursday that the governor take personal responsibility for allowing corruption to fester inside the Baltimore City Detention Center, calling for an independent system-wide audit of the correctional system.  Federal investigators believe 13 correctional officers allegedly assisted the Black Guerrilla Family gang in a criminal enterprise that included drug running, money laundering, engaging in sex in jail that resulted in four guards getting pregnant and cellphone smuggling.

Former Firefighter Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charges.  A former Baltimore County firefighter could spend the next 30 years behind bars after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. Anthony Cottle, 23, admitted in federal court Wednesday to producing and possessing child pornography.
