Fatal Motorcycle Accident On Route 100

fatal-accidentOn April 6, 2013 at approximately 0540 hours, officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department were dispatched to the area of Maryland Route 100 westbound near Maryland Route 295 for a motor vehicle collision involving a commercial motor vehicle and a motorcycle. Due to the severity of the injuries, officers from the Traffic Safety Section responded and assumed primary responsibility of the investigation.

Investigation determined the 2005 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was traveling westbound on MD Route 100 near MD Route 295. The 2000 Isuzu Box Truck was also traveling westbound on MD Route 100 near MD Route 295. Witnesses advised the motorcycle was traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. The motorcycle changed lanes and then struck the rear of the box truck.

The operator of the motorcycle was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and subsequently died as a result of his injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows that speed is a contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol contributed to this collision. Investigation is still ongoing.
