muddycreekMuddy Creek Artists Guild announces its Fifth Annual Spring Show – Artists on the Half Shell  – May 3-5, Friday to Sunday, at Galesville Memorial Hall, 925 Main Street, Galesville, MD.

Member artists will show all new works. The works include more than 250 original paintings, pastels, photograph, original prints, sculpture, pottery, textiles, jewelry, and mixed media.  The show will be open Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m; and Sunday May 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  It is free to the public.

“Artists on the Half Shell  is one of three annual Guild shows.  This show features the new artistic direction that our members have taken, and also showcases the  work of local high school students who will receive the annual scholarship award,” states Muddy Creek Artists Guild President, Bea Poulin.

Two special events are scheduled for Saturday:  a wine tasting hosted by South County’s own Thanksgiving Farms Winery of Harwood from 2:00 – 5:00, and a “Meet the Artists” reception from 5:00 – 8:00, featuring the music of Dan Haas, wine and refreshments.  On Sunday at 2:00 p.m. we will give special recognition to the high school art student winners of the Guild’s annual college scholarship.

A special feature of this show is judging by an independent artist who will pick the winner of the Golden Oyster Shell– the Best in Show, and the Silver Oyster Shells – best in each category.

The Guild celebrates its Fifth Anniversary this year.  It was formed to provide opportunities for Southern Anne Arundel County artists to show art in a variety of venues across South County.  Art work is on display now at several restaurants, professional offices, and public spaces.
