Are you keen to create a GREAT first impression with employers participating in Anne Arundel Community College’s Spring Job Fair scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, noon to 4 p.m. in the Arnold campus David S. Jenkins Gymnasium?
Consider attending free AACC workshops on creating up-to-date résumés, learning to write résumés for federal government positions and mastering interview techniques to help job seekers prepare to make their best impression when they meet prospective employers at the event.
“The job market is extremely competitive right now. Job seekers attending the fair should dress professionally and research participating employers and their available jobs. Just as important, job seekers need to have developed a 30-second introduction to present to employers at the Job Fair so that prospective employers can quickly visualize their skills and get a good indication as to how they will fit in with that business or organization,” said Veronica E. Boreland, employment services specialist at AACC.
Both the job fair, which is open to the public, and workshops are free to job seekers. Some pre-job fair workshops include:
- “Cracking the Code to Federal Job Search/Federal Resume Writing” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 22, at AACC at Arundel Mills Room 104
- “Ace Your Job Interview” from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, in the Student Union Room 204 on the Arnold campus
- “The Job Fair: The Spotlight is on You” which gives last-minute tips for networking and getting noticed at a job fair and meets right before the job fair opens, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the Robert E. Kauffman Theater in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts on the Arnold campus.
To prepare for specific job offerings, job seekers can visit www.collegecentral.com/aaccspring and scroll down to “Job Seekers” and click on “employer profile search” to see the list of employers planning to attend the job fair and the open positions they are seeking to fill. The spring job fair usually attracts at least 55 employers and the site is updated as additional businesses sign up.
Employer registration can be scheduled through Veronica Boreland at 410-777-2512 or email@example.com. There is a registration fee for employers to maintain a booth at the fair, and employers must have jobs available in order to participate.
