New Anne Arundel County Exec Dismantles Camera System. Incoming Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman said she has shut down a computer system used to monitor security cameras, and she fired a contractor who oversaw the system and reported to ousted former County Executive John Leopold. The new county executive said 530 cameras were being monitored. She said the cameras appear to have been installed in public areas, such as county buildings, and aren’t a problem by themselves.

Police: Man Robs M&T Bank In Edgewater.  Anne Arundel County police are looking for a man who robbed the M&T Bank in Edgewater. Police said a man came into the bank at 3150 Solomons Island Road just before noon on Monday and handed the bank teller a note announcing a robbery. The note implied that he had a gun, but no weapon was displayed, police said.

3 People Sickened By Odor At Trader Joe’s In Annapolis. Officials said a Freon leak caused the strange odor that sickened three people at Trader Joe’s in Anne Arundel County. Fire officials said the smell was reported at the Trader Joe’s at 160 Jennifer in Annapolis around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Hazmat crews responded to the store and determined a Freon leak in the refrigerant line caused the strange odor.

Schools Suspend 7-Year Old For Gun Shaped Pastry. A 7-year-old was suspended from school for playing with his food because school officials said he chewed his pastry into what looked like a gun. Anne Arundel County second-grader Josh Welch said that he didn’t set out to sculpt a gun out of his food when he sat down for breakfast at Park Elementary School on Friday morning, but his teacher found the shape of the pastry so alarming that she sent him to the principal’s office.
