Governor Appoints AACC President Dr. Dawn Lindsay To Governor’s Workforce Investment Board

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has appointed Anne Arundel Community College President Dr. Dawn Lindsay to the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board (GWIB).

She is completing the remainder of former AACC President Martha A. Smith’s four-year term that began July 1, 2010.

In making the appointment, Gov. O’Malley recognized Dr. Lindsay’s “dedication to public service” and said, with her “assistance and support, I know we will succeed in our goal to make a positive difference for all Marylanders.”

A native of Maryland, Dr. Lindsay is AACC’s sixth president. In addition to this new position as a member of GWIB, Dr. Lindsay serves on the board of directors for the League for Innovation in the Community College, the Commission of the American Association of Community Colleges, the Education Council of the National Association of Manufacturers, the corporate board of the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation, and the board of directors for the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Lindsay has dedicated more than 25 years to the community college system, most recently serving as the president of Glendale Community College in Glendale, Calif. She earned a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University, a master’s degree in Educational Counseling, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work in Social Work from McDaniel College.
