Blue Angels May Be Grounded For Annapolis Show

| March 30, 2013 | 1 Comment

CBS News reports that the Blue Angels have been grounded due to the sequestration cuts spreading across all departments of the federal government.  The Blue Angels were scheduled to participate in the Unites States Naval Academy’s graduation ceremonies.  However, according to their website, the two Annapolis appearances still remain, despite shows being canceled through the end of May and into June.

While the shows have been canceled, the practices are up in the air. “Right now, we are just waiting for further guidance to find out what will happen to the Blue Angels’ practices as we go into April and May,” says Lt. Katie Kelly with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

The Blue Angels typically perform in 70 shows a year. The Navy has already cancelled all four shows scheduled for April.

There has been no official statement issued by the USNA.
