Baysox To Host Cinco De Mayo 5K

Baysox AdThe Bowie Baysox have announced the Baysox Cinco De Mayo 5K and Kids Fun Run at Prince George’s Stadium Sunday, May 5, beginning at 9:30 a.m.  The Baysox have partnered with the DC Running Club to host the event, the proceeds of which will benefit Bowie Health Center, Bowie Police Explorers and Louie’s Holiday Hope Project.

Assistant General Manager Phil Wrye helped organize this event.  “Last season’s charity 5K was a great success and we are excited to bring the race back this year,” Wrye said. “With all the groups that will benefit, the event is a great cause and something the entire family can come out and enjoy.”

Tickets for the 5K are $30 if ordered by April 17 and then $35 until the deadline; tickets for the Kids Fun Run are $14 and can be ordered at www.dcrunningclub.com. Each 5K participant will also have the opportunity to setup a fundraising page and those that raise $50 or more will be entered into a raffle to win autographed Baysox items. The top three fundraisers will receive a signed Bowie Baysox bat, jersey, or ball. The deadline to register for the race is Friday, May 3.

The Kids Fun Run will be a relay race for prizes that will occur before the 5K. All of the 5K participants will be able to cheer on the little ones as they run about the length of a football field in two back and forth relays.

Along with an entrance in the 5K, each entry fee includes an official 5K t-shirt. Race packets will be distributed on the day of the race, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Prince George’s Stadium.
