The City of Annapolis Historic Preservation Commission and the MainStreets Annapolis Partnership are sponsoring a free, fun, family event in cooperation with Four Rivers: The Heritage Area of Annapolis, London Town and South County to commemorate the founding of Maryland in 1634.
Walk Annapolis: a Scavenger Hunt for History is set for Saturday, March 23. Starting at City Hall you and your kids or grand kids will make a mad dash around the City’s Historic District and Main Streets District following clues to find hidden historic and architectural gems (some of which are “hidden” in plain sight!) Follow the map provided and you will have four hours to complete the hunt while competing against other challengers for prizes.
Other Four Rivers Heritage organizations and businesses will also showcase the area’s historical, cultural and natural heritage for visitors and residents of all ages. Events and activities will take place throughout the Maryland Day Celebration weekend of March 22, 23, and 24 for one dollar or less; like the scavenger hunt, many of the activities are free. For more information on other Four Rivers Maryland Day activities, see www.marylandday.org .
The Walk Annapolis scavenger hunt registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall, 160 Duke of Gloucester Street. The scavenger hunt starts at 10 a.m. All participants will need to return their completed entries by 2 p.m. and the prize drawing will be held at 2:30. You do not have to be present to win. Open to all ages with prize categories for children 12 & under and adults. All children 12 & under who participate will receive a small prize.
