7 Arrested After Brawl At Annapolis High School

On March 18, 2013, at approximately 7:06 a.m., a fight broke out in the Annapolis High School cafeteria where students were gathered prior to classes starting for the day. The Annapolis High School Resource Officer responded to the cafeteria and discovered that the fight involved several students while other students gathered to watch and formed a loud, disorderly crowd. The SRO requested assistance from other officers, and numerous police officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department and other agencies responded to assist.

The responding officers were able to quickly restore order and control. The preliminary investigation suggests two female students, a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old named Lakyra Reid, became involved in a verbal dispute. The dispute was in response to posts made via social media the preceding weekend. The dispute turned physical when the 15-year-old picked up a chair and hit Reid with it.
