An Annapolis man wanted in connection with a December double shooting that left one person dead and another in critical condition will voluntarily surrender to authorities Wednesday afternoon, according to his lawyer.

“A great many things have been said about my client. There are two sides to every story and his side has not been heard,” said G. Andrew “Drew” Cochran, an Annapolis-based criminal defense attorney.

Clarence Eugene Johnson III will turn himself in to Annapolis police at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Cochran, who will accompany Johnson to city police headquarters.

Cochran said Johnson made the decision to turn himself in after learning he was one of Annapolis’ Most Wanted and seeing his face all over the local news.

Johnson wants to defend himself against these charges, Cochran said.

“There is a presumption of innocence in this country. Every person has the right to confront his accusers,” said Cochran. “And Clarence Johnson fully intends to exercise his constitutional rights. He wants his day in court.”
