Human Remains Discovered In Laurel Section Of AA County

Crime SceneOn February 24, 2013, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers from the Western District responded to the area of Spring Road and Whiskey Bottom Road in Laurel to meet with a citizen who reported finding suspected human remains in a wooded area off of Spring Road.

The citizen said he and his girlfriend were bird watching and hiking when they observed what appeared to be a human skull in the woods. They subsequently contacted police who responded to the scene. The Medical Examiner was also contacted and responded to the scene.  The remains were recovered and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. The OCME has since confirmed that the remains were human. The cause and manner of death is undetermined at this time.
