Baldtenders 1st Fundraiser A Success!

DSCN4305Galway Bay hosted a fundraiser on Thursday Feb 7th in support of “Baldtenders”, a sixteen person team of Galway Bay Bartenders and friends, who are raising funds for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The Team captains are Galway Bay Bartender, Aaron “Hoss” Mitchell, and his wife Kelly. The event featured guest bartender Carl Henry, the fiancé of Galway Bay bartender Christina Doyle. The team collected donations and gave away several raffle prizes during the event, and raised over $800 towards their admirable goal of raising $50,000. In past years the Baldtenders team has raised over $30,000.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, founded in 2004, is “the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer research.” (http://www.stbaldricks.org) Participants agree to shave their heads and beards (if they have them), to raise money and awareness for the foundation’s work. Both men and women participate.

The Baldtenders are just one of many groups in the Annapolis area participating in this year’s head-shaving event, which will take place at Fado Irish Pub on West Street in Annapolis (1 Park Place # 7) on March 10, 2013. The head shaving will begin at 12 noon. For more information and details on attending the event, go to http://www.stbaldricks.org. You can make donations to the Baldtenders Team, and meet the brave men and women who will be shaving their heads for this worthy cause, at one of the upcoming guest bartending events, Thursday evenings in February and March leading up to the event, 7-10 pm at Galway Bay on Maryland Avenue in Annapolis. For more event  details call Galway Bay at 410-263-8333. To make a donation toward the Baldtenders Team goal for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation go tohttp://www.stbaldricks.org/search/Baldtenders
