Anne Arundel County Selects Leopold Replacement. Laura Neuman was among an initial group of 16 Republican candidates who applied to become county executive following the resignation of John Leopold earlier this month. Leopold resigned after a judge found him guilty of misconduct in office for using his security detail to perform political campaign activities while on the job.

Car Overturns, Ignites In B-W Parkway Crash. A man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway on Thursday. Authorities were called to the southbound lanes near Route 175 in Anne Arundel County just before 2:30 p.m. when a car overturned and ignited.

Police Search For Boys & Girls Club Burglars. Police in Annapolis are investigating the thefts of several items from the Boys and Girls Club at Admiral Oaks. Police said someone or several individuals broke into the facility and stole cash and electronics, including laptops. In all, Boys and Girls Club officials said about $20,000 worth of goods was taken.

Marijuana Legalization Bill Introduced. A state lawmaker from Baltimore City has introduced a bill to legalize marijuana. Delegate Curt Anderson, D-District 43, introduced a measure in the House of Delegates on Thursday that would make marijuana legal for adults 21 and over and create a system to regulate and tax it like alcohol.
