Hundreds Attend Benefit For Boy Attacked By Dog . A little boy who was attacked by two dogs in December is on the mend, and a sold-out benefit was held in his honor Sunday to help with his medical expenses. Dakota Heckler, 7, was seriously injured the first weekend of December when he was attacked by two American bulldogs at his aunt’s home in Pasadena. The dogs ripped off the boy’s scalp, fractured his skull and nearly killed him, his family said. (See Eye On Annapolis coverage of the original incident here )
Woman Stabbed In Attack At Arundel Mills Mall . Anne Arundel County police said a woman was injured in a robbery attempt that led to a police pursuit, crash and an arrest. County police said officers arrested Broderick Reginald Bennett, 49, of Woodlawn, on armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault and other related charges. Police said they were called to the parking lot at Arundel Mills Mall near the Saks 5th Avenue outlet store at about 3 p.m
Several Vie To Take Over Leopold’s Executive Seat . Several people have applied to become the next Anne Arundel County Executive. John Leopold resigned earlier this month after a judge found him guilty of misconduct in office for using his security detail to perform political campaign activities while on the job. Shortly before the Friday noon deadline, Acting Anne Arundel County Executive John Hammond officially announced his interest in filling in for the term until the next election in 2014. He initially said he was not interested in pursuing the job.
Student Fatally Stabbed At UMES . The president of the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, said it was heart-wrenching to inform the parents of a student that he had been fatally stabbed on campus. Police said Edmond St. Clair, 21, died at a hospital Saturday night after he was stabbed during an altercation between two groups of people. Police are still searching for the attackers, and Maryland State Police have joined the hunt.
