Acting Anne Arundel County Executive Named. Chief Administrative Officer John Hammond is serving as Acting Anne Arundel County Executive after County Executive John R. Leopold was suspended from his duties. An executive order authorizing the change was signed by Leopold on Monday. The Maryland Constitution provides for the suspension of an elected official upon a guilty finding in a criminal case.

Judge Returns Split Verdict In Leopold Trial. The judge in the case of embattled Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold found him guilty on two of four counts against him — misuse of executive protection officers for political and campaign activities and misuse of county employees for personal purposes.

Police: Teen Accused Of Killing Baby, Attempting Suicide. A woman killed her 9-month-old daughter before trying to kill herself in Joppa on Tuesday, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said they arrested Qucelia Yvette Baldero, 19, in the suspicious death of her daughter, Salena Olivia Baldero, on Tuesday afternoon.
