Woman, 18, Struck By Car On Route 2 Dies. A woman trying to cross Route 2 was fatally struck by a car near Annapolis Friday night, fire officials told WBAL-TV 11 News. She was struck just after 9:30 p.m. on Route 2/Solomons Island Road at West Street, fire officials said. County police said the woman crossed into the path of two oncoming vehicles.

Police: Man Pointed Loaded Gun At Officer. An Anne Arundel County man faces assault charges after he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at a police officer. Investigators said officers responded to the 600 block of Belle Dora Court in Arnold for reports of a neighbor dispute on Thursday. Witnesses said the suspect, 48-year-old William Neall, had been acting erratically, banging on doors and screaming profanities.

Brig Chief Denies Punishing GI In Wikileaks Case.  A former Marine Corps brig commander said she never intended it as punishment when she ordered underwear removed from an Army private charged with giving classified material to WikiLeaks. Chief Warrant Officer 2 Denise Barnes testified Friday on the ninth day of Pfc. Bradley Manning’s pretrial hearing at Fort Meade. He claims the nine months he spent in maximum custody at the base in Quantico, Va., were illegal punishment, and his case should be dismissed.

Redskins Top Ravens In Overtime Classic. With the Washington Redskins trailing the Baltimore Ravens by eight late in regulation, Robert Griffin III sprained his right knee at the end of a 13-yard scramble. He left for one play, returned for four but was literally hopping around on the field. Eventually, he fell to the turf and could no longer continue. Fellow rookie Kirk Cousins stepped in and finished RG3′s work, hitting Pierre Garcon for an 11-yard touchdown pass with 29 seconds remaining and then running in the 2-point conversion. Yet another rookie, Richard Crawford, returned a punt 64 yards in overtime to set up Kai Forbath’s 34-yard field goal to give Washington a 31-28 victory.
