Maine Cottage Coming to Annapolis

On December 1, 2012, Maine Cottage® will open a new Flagship Store at 209 West Street in Annapolis, MD. Exposed brick, vaulted ceilings and over-sized windows are just a few of the architectural details that define the wide open space for the new furniture store in Annapolis.

Maine Cottage® is the original home to spirited, colorful furniture perfect for coastal living. Every piece of Maine Cottage® furniture – sofas, beds, dressers, and wicker chairs – is bench built to order and custom-finished in the spirited Maine Cottage® fabrics and/or colors of your choice. With over 200 fabrics and 46 color choices, there is flexibility and opportunity to have fun and be expressive with selections.

Nearly 2,000 square feet of space on the first floor will host the Maine Cottage® retail store. There will be a color bar with a large interactive screen where customers can work with a Maine Cottage® Interior Design Associate on choosing their color and fabric selections. You can expect to see more vibrant colors, fun fabrics and uplifting furniture along with hand-picked home accessories from American potters, photographers and rug makers in the new location. There are also plans to feature local Maryland artists and to host events for local Annapolis and Washington, DC design professionals. The new retail destination store will feature signature Maine Cottage® colors and the coastal look that the brand has become known for. Merchandising will also draw inspiration from the local nautical market and add elements to the store that have a distinctly “Annapolitan” spirit.

Above the furniture store, the second floor will house the companys Creative Suite for design and product development. Warehouse, distribution and administrative offices will be located 10 miles away at 451 Defense Highway, also in Annapolis.

The company was founded 25 years ago by Peter Bass, great grandson of Wilton, Maine shoe maker G.H. Bass and artist Carol Bass. In April 2011 Severna Park-based furniture company Russell & Mackenna, Inc. purchased the Maine Cottage brand. Together the father/daughter duo that started Russell & Mackenna in a one car garage, now run the relocated Maine Cottage® Company from Annapolis, Maryland headquarters. West Point graduate, Larry Strassner is the company’s President & CEO while his youngest child, daughter, Lauren Russell is the Creative Director overseeing brand development.
