Anne Arundel Cares Launches Season Of Caring

Anne Arundel Cares is asking county residents to devote a portion of their charitable giving to helping local nonprofits during the upcoming Season of Caring.

According to Joanna Conti, Founder and Chair of Anne Arundel Cares, Inc., “The number of Anne Arundel County residents living in poverty has increased by 46% since 2006.  Unfortunately, county funding for local nonprofits who exist to help our struggling neighbors has been cut by 80% during this period.  If each of us could contribute a little to the local nonprofit whose mission most appeals to us, it would help tremendously.”

The Anne Arundel Cares website (www.aacares.org) tells stories about how almost 50 nonprofits are making a difference in Anne Arundel County.  Donations go directly to the chosen nonprofit and are fully tax-deductible.  Anne Arundel Cares has raised over $33,000 for local nonprofits since it was founded two months ago.

Caring individuals or groups who want to help even more are asked to use the Anne Arundel Cares website to raise money and volunteers for their favorite nonprofit.  Three “People Who Care 2012” awards will be given to the teams that contribute the most to their nonprofit between now and the end of the year.
