North County Job Expo

County Executive John R. Leopold has  announced that several area employers will meet with local residents on November 14 at the North County Job Expo.

“According to the Maryland Workforce Exchange, there are more than 500 current job openings in the North County area, but there are more unemployed residents in Glen Burnie and Pasadena than any other county zip code,” said County Executive Leopold. “We want to pair prospective workers with these prospective employers.”

The event, sponsored by Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) and the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR), will allow attendees to hear directly from businesses about what jobs are available, how to apply, and what makes the perfect candidate.

Following the panel discussion, job seekers can speak one-on-one with employers and share their resumes. “We are committed to giving businesses and jobseekers the competitive edge in employment,” County Executive Leopold said. “This is an opportunity for residents to hear
from employers what the keys are to successful employment and for employers to interact with potential, informed candidates.”

Among the panelists are representatives from ATI Performance Products, Manpower, Providence Centers, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, Bay Area Goodyear, ComForcare Senior Services and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 26.

The event will be at the Glen Burnie Career Center, 7480 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Glen Burnie, MD 21061, from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, call Heather Henry at 410-987-3890, ext. 243
