Purse Snatchers Assault Woman In Glen BurnieAnne Arundel County police said they are looking for a pair of purse snatchers who assaulted a woman. Officers were called to the 8000 block of Winding Wood Road in Glen Burnie at 8:15 p.m. Monday for a report of a robbery. A 24-year-old woman told police she was walking on Winding Road when two men approached her from behind. She said one of them struck her with an unknown object, took her purse and then both men fled on foot.

MD Delegate Alston Enters Plea Deal For Misconduct. A Maryland lawmaker has pleaded guilty to misconduct in office for paying an employee in her law office $800 in state money to pay for her wedding expenses. Delegate Tiffany Alston made a plea agreement on Tuesday to settle theft and misconduct in office cases. Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge Paul Harris sentenced Alston to one year of jail with all of the time suspended. She also received three years of supervised probation and 300 hours of community service. She also has to pay the money back to the state.

Report: Dream Act Could Boost State’s Economy. A new report said keeping Maryland’s controversial education Dream Act on the books could help boost the state’s economy. The state Dream Act, if upheld by voters in November, would permit undocumented immigrants to pay in-state tuition rates to attend college. The report estimates that over time, it could add $66 million to state coffers based on the assumption that 435 Dream Act students take advantage of higher education.  The two university professors behind the report said there are no political strings attached.

Orioles Fans Warned Of Ticket Scammers.  Before Orioles fans decide to shell out major cash for a seat to one of the upcoming playoff games — whether it be in New York, Baltimore or elsewhere — experts said people need to take precautions to avoid the possibility of scammers selling them bogus tickets. O’s excitement is fueling ticket sales for next week’s potential American League Championship Series home games. The Orioles sold out their supply in an hour on Tuesday. Online brokers and individuals are offering seats ranging from $200 to $1,200. Many fans said they don’t mind the high prices.
