Master Printmaker To Demonstrate Techniques At AACC

“Jack-o-Lantern” is one of the intaglio prints by Jake Muirhead, who will demonstrate the fine art intaglio techniques Oct. 25 at Anne Arundel Community College.

Master printmaker Jake Muirhead will talk about his work, demonstrate fine art intaglio techniques and critique fine art prints in a series of events on Oct. 25 in the printmaking studio in the Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 308 at Anne Arundel Community College’s Arnold campus.

People are welcome to attend all or just part of the free event, which is sponsored by the AACC Printing Club. Open to the public, the series of events begins at 11 a.m. with a lecture and presentation of prints by Muirhead, who is a master printmaker at Pyramid Atlantic in Silver Spring. At noon, there will be a short break for lunch. Muirhead will demonstrate intaglio techniques and printing at 12:30 p.m. in the college’s print studio. He will give a critique of fine art prints from 2:30-4 p.m.

Muirhead’s work can be seen at the Old Print Gallery in Washington, D.C. Named the 2007 Outstanding New Graduate by the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University, Muirhead’s work has won prizes and been recognized for awards in exhibits around the country. He also has exhibited overseas in Guanlan, China; Menorca, Spain; New Zealand; and Tokyo, Japan.
