Woman Killed In Jessup Crash

On October 26, 2012 at approximately 2:54 p.m., officers from the Western District responded for a report of a single vehicle collision with rollover on Telegraph Road (Rt. 170) near Annapolis Road (Rt. 175) Jessup, Maryland. Responding officers found the driver had been ejected from the vehicle, and was deceased at the scene. There were no other persons in or around the vehicle. Officers from the Traffic Safety Section responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

Investigation revealed a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Christina Marie Tobash was traveling north on Telegraph Road approaching Annapolis Road in lane #2 (right lane) when it came upon vehicles stopped for a red traffic signal. The vehicle swerved to lane #1 (left lane) and continued through the red traffic signal crossing Annapolis Road.  The vehicle lost control and went off the right road side striking a curb and then a utility pole. The vehicle bounced off the pole and yawed clockwise, before overturning several times and going through a 6 foot high chain link fence. The driver was ejected prior to the vehicle coming to rest. Anne Arundel County Fire Department Paramedics pronounced the driver, Christina Marie Tobash, deceased at the scene.

Speed appears to be the contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown at this time if drugs and/or alcohol are contributing factors. The investigation is continuing.
