Police: Internet Cafe Served As Illegal Gaming Site.  The Anne Arundel County Police Department said it seized 75 gaming terminals, $589 in cash and an assortment of computer networking hardware after a search warrant was served at an Internet café in Brooklyn Park. Authorities said they served the search warrant at the Sweepstakes business at 5011 Ritchie Highway at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday after a month-long investigation.

O’Malley, Students Talke Education Affordability.  Gov. Martin O’Malley hosted student leaders Thursday during an informal discussion on higher education, the cost of which has risen. Student government presidents and members of the University System of Maryland Student Council met with the governor to talk about tuition and the importance of investing in higher education to build Maryland’s highly-skilled workforce and prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow.

Mother, Son Acquitted Of Charges In Fatal Crash. A mother and her son, who faced charges in a fatal crash that killed four people, were acquitted Thursday. “Today’s decision by the judge completely exonerates the Francos of any wrongdoing,” family defense attorney David Fischer said. Debby Franco and her son, Joshua Franco, left the courthouse in tears after a judge acquitted them.

Edgewater Teen Faces Drug Charges. Anne Arundel County police said an Edgewater man is facing drug charges following an arrest. Following an investigation, detectives served a search warrant at 405 Penwood Drive at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities said they seized approximately 14 grams of marijuana, controlled substance paraphernalia and $153 in cash. Police said the marijuana had an approximate street value of $280.
