Would-Be Robber Leaves Store Empty Handed.  Anne Arundel County police are looking for a man in connection with an attempted armed robbery. Police were called at about 1 a.m. Saturday to Xtra Mart Fuel at 3080 Solomons Island Road, where, investigators said, an armed man brandished a knife and demanded money from the clerk.

Police Believe 2 Anne Arundel Burglaries Connected.  Police are investigating two burglaries of businesses in Anne Arundel County that they believe may be connected. Officers were called to the Paceway convenience store in the 1300 block of Defense Highway in Gambrills for a report of a burglar alarm at 4:04 a.m. Friday. In the second incident, police said officers were called to the BP gas station in the 1600 block of Annapolis Road in Severn for a report of a burglary of the business at 6:09 a.m. Friday.

Race For The Cure Took Place In Baltimore County. The 20th Annual Susan G. Komen Maryland Race for the Cure took place in Baltimore County this weekend, and police are advising motorists of street closures in the area. Runners from around the state will meet at the Race Village located on the parking lots of the Executive Plaza in Hunt Valley on Sunday. Participants and others will begin arriving at 6 a.m. and the race will start at 8 a.m.

Area Scout Officials Address Abuse.  Decades of alleged sexual abuse within the Boy Scouts of America have come to light, including some cases in Maryland. Those cases were made public after a court decision in Oregon.  Local Scout leaders said they’re so serious about protecting boys from abuse that a 23-page parent’s guide is the first thing they will find in the Boy Scout handbook.
